Listening walk in Helsinki 12.6.2018

Simo Alitalo & Tuike Alitalo’s artistic practice involves sound art, installation, participatory
performances, environmental art and writing. Their work often emerges from the basic question of
acoustemology: what do we know about the world through sense of hearing, and how what we hear
affects the way we understand the world.

Participants are invited to open their ears, learn to listen anew and gain a novel perspective on
their surroundings. Sound artists Simo Alitalo & Tuike Alitalo lead a collective listening walk
throughout the Helsinki center. Start at Helsinki City museum 6 pm on Helsinki Day 12.6.2018.

The walk lasts approximately one hour and is followed by group discussion and Q&A. Wear good shoes
and proper attire for the weather. Note that during the walk no verbal communication, phones,
cameras or dogs are allowed. RSVP is required and questions can be answered at: kuulumia [at] gmail[dot]com.
